Keeping your SquirmStack clean and running smoothly is simple and doesn’t take much time. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your at-home mealworm farm.

Weekly Maintenance

  • Replace Moisture Source: Remove and replace carrot or potato slices every 2–3 days to prevent mold.
  • Spot Check: Remove any moldy food, dead worms, or stuck sheds from trays.
  • Frass Removal: Use the self-sifting trays to separate frass (waste) from healthy worms weekly or as needed.

  • Check Beetle Bin: Look for small worms and move them to a worm tray.
  • Clear Beetle Bin Holes: Once a month, use a toothpick or small brush to gently poke through the beetle tray holes.
