If you’ve been part of the Squirmy Snacks community for a while, you know we’re always working on ways to make feeder insect breeding simpler, cleaner, and more reliable.
Today, we’re excited to share a sneak peek at three new products currently in development, each designed to help a different type of keeper raise healthier live feeders at home.
Whether you care for a single gecko or a whole backyard flock, something new is coming your way.

Coming Soon: Micro SquirmStack — Small Space, Big Nutrition
Not every keeper needs a whole feeder farm. Many reptile and invert keepers just want a simple way to raise a steady supply of nutritious feeders without taking up much space.
That’s exactly why we created the Micro SquirmStack™.
At about 30% smaller than our standard SquirmStack, this compact farm is perfect for:
- Bearded dragon keepers with modest feeding needs
- Leopard gecko owners
- Jumping spider enthusiasts
- Tarantula keepers
- Anyone raising feeders for pets with smaller appetites
The Micro SquirmStack is designed to:
- Fit easily on a shelf or desk
- Produce consistent feeder quantities
- Maintain the same clean, stackable system you already love
- Help ensure your feeders are healthy, well-fed, and chemical-free
Perfect for keepers who want control over feeder quality without producing more insects than they need.

Next Up: We’ll Introduce the Cricket Egg Guardian — Protect Eggs from Hungry Adult Crickets
Anyone who has tried breeding crickets knows the challenge:
Adult crickets often eat their own eggs, making colony growth frustrating and unpredictable.
We’re developing the Cricket Egg Guardian™, a specialized lay bin designed to encourage egg laying while helping protect developing eggs from adult crickets.
Key design concept:
- A specially thatched tray cover allows female crickets to insert their ovipositors
- Ovipositors can deposit eggs into the soil below
- The design prevents other crickets from digging up and consuming those eggs
- Helps improve hatch success rates and colony stability
For keepers looking to produce their own cricket feeders consistently, this small tool could make a big difference.

Something BIG is Coming… The XL SquirmStack™
Many customers have asked for a way to produce larger volumes of mealworms — especially those feeding:
- Backyard chickens
- Large reptile collections
- Breeding projects
- Wildlife feeding setups
We are currently developing an extra-large SquirmStack with increased width and length to support higher production capacity.
The XL version is being designed with flock owners in mind — keepers who want a more sustainable way to supplement feed with protein-rich mealworms.
Expected timeline:
Target release: Late Summer
We may make a small number of prototype units available before the official launch for early adopters who have been asking for a larger version.
